Training Tips
Contrary to what many people think you actually need to be fit to drive a race car! Below are some tips and eating habits from some of the drivers in the Motorsport NZ Championship Series.

Jamie Gaskin drives in the Suzuki Swift Sport Cup. Here is what Jamie had to say about his training and food that he eats before an event:
Training during the season for me includes a couple of 5km runs a week, then I'm off to the gym at least 3 x a week where I'm doing weights, cardio and core work. I don't do too much in the couple of days before as I am usually travelling to the meeting and testing my Suzuki Swift race car, but that is when food becomes important. I drink lots of water and also Horleys Replace to boost electrolyte levels over the race weekend and watch my diet leading up to the meeting and during it. I try to eat plenty of pasta & rice, fruit and veges before the meeting and bananas are a good energy boost just before I hop in the car.
